This workshop is for teacher leaders; aspiring, new and veteran site leaders; and for central office leaders. The research is there...but, too often, we do not practice what works or do not recognize what is demanded of leaders in significant change efforts. We examine Hall and Hord's CAM, peek at Phil Schlety's teaching, are reminded of McRels's Leadership behaviors, heed the cautions of Linksky and Heifitz, and peek at Fullan's "six secrets" of change. Participants get LOTS of "food for reflection" and get the opportunity to share about change efforts and strategies for doing it better, together and now!
Desired Outcomes:
- Reflect on what change really is...and why it seems to be difficult
- Examine the attributes of technical and adaptive change/first and second order change
- Reflect, respect, and respond to the needs of individuals
- Understand that change is a process, not an event
- Learn the "Ten Commandments of Change" efforts
