Essential Qualities of Successful Leadership

This session addresses the needs of anyone—site, district, vet, aspiring, new---who is interested in exploring the essence of leadership.  The workshop is primarily based upon the work of John Maxwell and Jim Collins.  We briefly examine some leadership myths, and then delve into the concept that leadership is influence and present strategies for developing and growing one’s influence, examining Collin’s research in Level III, IV, and V leaders along the way.

Desired Outcomes:

  • Examine myths about the relationships between knowledge, power, and leadership
  • Determine the sources of influence and how to grow one's influence
  • Examine the attributes of Level V leadership
  • Recognize one's own leadership qualities and set growth goals
  • Develop strategies for growing leadership in others

This is a one-day, 6 hour (9:00-3:00), interactive workshop that is part of the Call to Leadership series.  It can also be offered as an independently.
