You Mean We Have to LEARN to Collaborate?

This workshop is for teacher leaders; aspiring,  new and veteran site leaders; and for central office leaders.  Changing how we go about our work, what we believe, and challenging entrenched habits is part of our move toward collaboration, but so is learning and practicing the new skills required of positive, productive group members.  It doesn't work to just negotiate"collaboration time" into the weekly schedule does it?  This workshop introduces participants to the work of Garmston and Wellman in Adaptive Schools and research in best practices and tools from the National Staff Development Council.

Desired Outcomes:

  • Learn to assess collaborative practices
  • Develop group facilitation skills
  • Examine the roles of dialogue & discussion in decision-making
  • Examine and practice the "Seven Norms of Collaboration"
  • Reflect on attitudes and practices focused on development of people

Number of Hours: 6 hours
